Another Artificial swarm

Tuesday, 6 August 2019 20:39

The colony of bees I separated from the original swarm produced a swarm queen cell. On Saturday it was still an open cell with the workers feeding the larvae. On Sunday they had closed the cell. I put a frame of brood ( with nectar as well) along with another frame with bees and nectar. I found the queen and put her in a nuc box with the brood frames. I brought the nuc box back home.

So, the original prime swarm I got from longton has now become 2 queen right colonies and one other with a queen cell that will emerge in about a week. Fingers crossed that the queen gets mated correctly. ( I have one queen that was not mated correctly so only produces drone bees).
