Some Pictures of different swarms of bees.

Swarms occur mainly in May and June but can happen at other times. Its the way that the bees reproduce themselves. They produce a new queen and one of the queens and some bees go off in search of a new home. It is quite  sight close up and you will see that they will go in search of the pace that the scout bees have alreadty decided upon. If they settle at a reasonable height they can be gathered and put into a spare hive. Many beekeepers are reluctant to take swarms if their origin is unknown as they may be carrying disease which would then be passed to other hives in the Apiary.
