Don't let your Chainsaw stay unused for too long
The Possible dangers of a chainsaw not being used for more than 6 months.
Like many people, I have a chainsaw for cutting trees and branches. As I now live in a town, I haven’t had the same need to use it as when I lived on a small farm.
Consequently, it has remained unused for a number of years. When I came to start it recently, it would not start. After seeking expert advice, it seems that the oil in the fuel/oil mixture can clog up the carburettor. Mine now needs to have the fuel lines and carburettor cleaned etc.
The answer, it seems, is to use Alkalyte fuel. (Several brands available from garden machinery places) if the machine is likely to be unused for any length of time.
